About Me and the Sunset

goats

31 years old, Mama to four, grateful Catholic, recovering academic.  Every time I’ve tried to blog in the past, I’ve found myself mostly occupied with passing on wonderful things I’ve heard elsewhere, rather than coming up with something totally original.  And I don’t think that’s a bad thing.  My 11th grade literature teacher, Mrs. T., often said that although her main job was to help us analyze and understand the works we read, sometimes she felt the need to just stop and point out the loveliness in them–an image, a metaphor, a well-crafted sentence–something that needed no commentary except appreciation; to stop and say, “look at that sunset!”  That’s what I hope to do here.  Along with my own ideas, I want to present you with beautiful things.  My motto comes from Renoir: “To my mind, a picture should be something pleasant, cheerful, and pretty, yes pretty! There are too many unpleasant things in life as it is without creating still more of them.”
